Shimano e-mountain bike experience
Date: End of May
Venue: Sesto/Sexten, Sarentino/Sarnthein, Naturno/Naturns, Merano/Meran, Brunico/Bruneck and Bressanone/Brixen
The event leads right across South Tyrol in four stages and combines sport, alpine adventure, indulgence and culture. Participants can test a different e-mountain bike every day. A variety-packed entertainment programme awaits participants at the stage venues.
Dolomiti Superbike
Date: Start of July
Venue: Dolomites Three Peaks region
The mountain bike race in the heart of the Dolomites is among those with the highest number of entrants in the whole of Europe and attracts cycling fans to Alta Val Pusteria/Hochpustertal time and time again. There are two different distances: a long one with 113 kilometres and 3,357 metres difference in altitude and a short one with 60 kilometres and 1,785 metres difference in altitude.
Smach
Date: Start of July to start of September (Please note: is not organised every year)
Venue: San Martin de Tor/St. Martin in Thurn (Val Badia/Gadertal)
The open-air exhibition in the Dolomites region was organised in 2013 and 2015. It is the result of an international competition. Ten artists are selected to show their works at ten culturally and historically important locations in San Martin de Tor/St. Martin in Thurn in Marebbe/Enneberg. The theme of the 2017 exhibition is “CONTRAST”.
Valle di Tures ed Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal street cooking
Date: Every Tuesday in July and August
Venue: Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers
Gourmets and fans of South Tyrol can find good South Tyrolean cuisine and a variety-packed entertainment programme outdoors in Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers. Indulgence and enjoyment are the focus on Tuesday evenings in the summer.
Valdaora/Olang street food festival
Date: Wednesdays in July and August
Venue: Valdaora/Olang
You can find local specialities, lively music and lots of happy people in Valdaora di Mezzo/Mitterolang village centre on Wednesdays. The street festival starts at 6.00 p.m.
Old town festival in Brunico/Bruneck
Date: One weekend in July (every other year)
Venue: Brunico/Bruneck
Numerous clubs attract visitors to Brunico/Bruneck’s town centre at the end of July to offer them culinary specialities and provide their very best entertainment programme. Various musicians set the mood on four large stages.
Potato festival and potato weeks
Date: September
Venue: Val Pusteria/Pustertal
Everything revolves around potatoes in Val Pusteria/Pustertal in September. Participating businesses in Val Pusteria/Pustertal offer different potato specialities. The potato weeks kick off with the potato festival where there is information and entertainment and of course lots of tasting.
Krampus procession
Date: Start of December
Venue: Val Pusteria/Pustertal
Krampus races take place at the start of December in various towns in Val Pusteria/Pustertal, such as Brunico/Bruneck, Casies/Gsies or Dobbiaco/Toblach. People disguised as the devil like scaring visitors with their grotesque faces and costumes. Please note: this event is not suitable for easily scared children.
Christmas market in Brunico/Bruneck
Date: End of November to start of January
Venue: Brunico/Bruneck
Various merchants present their traditional crafts and offer them for sale. You are sure to find the perfect Christmas present that you have been looking for here.
Valle di Tures ed Aurina/Tauferer Ahrntal Advent
Date: On the four weekends before Christmas
Venue: Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers
The old Doctor’s mansion in Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers comes to life on the Saturdays and Sundays before Christmas. Artisans present their products and the Doctor tells stories about his life and work. Why not try one of the biscuits baked by the children in the Christmas bakery before taking a horse-drawn carriage ride through the magic forest in Bad Winkl!
Ski shows
Date: Winter
Venue: Ski areas in Val Pusteria/Pustertal
Ski shows take place in the ski areas in Val Pusteria/Pustertal on different evenings. The ski and snowboard instructors show off their talent here and freeriders can put their skills to the test. A fireworks display is often also on offer.
Christof Innerhofer fan club race
Date: Spring
Venue: Speikboden ski area in Campo Tures/Sand in Taufers
A race is held in honour of the downhill skier Christof Innerhofer every year in the Speikboden ski area. By the way, did you know that the champion comes from your holiday resort Gais?
